The PARA Method: A Universal System for Organizing Digital Information

stands for Projects — Areas — Resources — Archives, the four top-level categories that encompass every type of information you might encounter in your work and life. When working with a client as a productivity coach, one of the first things I will ask them is to show me their Project List. By breaking these responsibilities into bite-sized projects (as in the list on the right), you ensure that your Project List will change nearly every week. There is a very illuminating exercise you can perform once you’ve taken the time to formulate a clear Project List. This is a deeper level of introspection: are you currently meeting the standard you’ve set for yourself in each of the areas you’re committed to?
